Each week, members of the Lifestyles staff share something we like. Maybe you’ll like it, too.
Sylvia Anderson, food/home and garden reporter: I finally found a down coat that really keeps me warm and then the zipper broke. I knew I would have a hard time finding something similar, so I decided to replace the zipper. It’s not cheap ($1 an inch at Modern dry cleaners) but it’s still only a fraction of the cost of a new coat, and really worth it if you like the coat you’ve got.
Tamara Clymer, family reporter: With four kids, the only way I can stay half-way organized is by using my dry-erase board calendar. I love that thing. Being a bit of a Type A, I have four markers in different colors – one for each child and their activities. It helps me keep track of four kids worth of doctor’s appointments, sporting events and birthday parties. I keep it handy by hanging it on the side of the fridge with removable hooks. Sure, it’s ugly. But it’s functional ... and I couldn’t live without it.
Shea Conner, entertainment reporter: You’ve probably seen the ads for the new Domino’s Pizza by now, and I have to tell you, they finally got it right. The old pizza had nearly no garlic and very little cheese. That’s no longer a problem. Also, the new Domino’s crust is thick and soft. I was blown away. This might be my new favorite chain-style pizza.
Jess DeHaven, Lifestyles editor: Nobody likes a dirty floor, but it seems like too much time and effort to drag out a mop. That’s why I love my Swiffer. All I do is grab it off it’s hanger and it’s good to go. When I’m finished, there’s no bucket to dump — back on the hook it goes.
Blake Hannon, entertainment reporter: I occasionally drink protein shakes and it’s kind of hard to consume them for their often weird flavors. But you’ll get past this problem in no time with BSN Syntha-6. It’s easily the best tasting protein powder I’ve ever had. The Chocolate Milk Shake tastes like a melted Wendy’s Frosty, very creamy and you just have to add water. Plus, it’s got 22 grams or protein and 5 grams of fiber.
Erin Wisdom, health/religion reporter: I’m a big fan of anything Burt’s Bees (anything I’ve tried, at least; they have a pretty extensive product line). My favorite Burt’s Bees item right now is their super shiny natural lip gloss in zesty red. As the name indicates, it’s made entirely of things found in nature. And somehow, it manages to taste and smell really good at the same time.
