Pastels and painters open to public

The work of Evelyn Jordan-Isaacs and Ila Dell Youngblood will be featured at an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 20, in the gallery at 118 N. Seventh St. The two artists will be featured in the gallery until February 2010. Ms. Jordan-Isaacs is noted for her pastels, and Ms. Youngblood works with acrylics and does mostly non-objective abstract paintings. Refreshments will be served at the opening. Gallery 7 is free and open to the public.

It's the most wonderful time of the year

The St. Joseph community is invited to "Come Home for the Holidays" as the exterior lights are turned on during the annual "Holiday Lighting Ceremony" on Dec. 3 at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. Activities, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., will include carriage rides, Santa and Mrs. Claus, refreshments, live holiday music and a children's craft area. Admission is free. Setting the standard

Central Standard Chorus, Kansas City's newest all-male a capella chorus will present "Harmony on the Plaza" at 2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at Unity Temple on the Plaza's main auditorium. The championship quartet Skyline also will perform.
