Each week, members of the Lifestyles staff share something we like. Maybe you'll like it, too.
Sylvia Anderson, food/home and garden reporter: For quickly clearing up blemishes, I recommend Biore anti-blackhead cream cleanser. It's a green cream that actually gets warm when you put it on your skin. Then you wash it off. I don't know how it works, but it works better than anything I've ever tried.
Tamara Clymer, family reporter: One of the things I love about my job is I get to meet new people and try new things all the time. My most recent discovery is Crock-Pot brownies. They are so good! The recipe is incredibly easy (for a copy check out www.stjoenews.net) and the best part is, while you're at work your slow cooker will be slowly, but surely, baking you the most delectable, chocolaty brownies you have ever tasted. Mmm ,,,
Shea Conner, entertainment reporter: If you want to be like mega music-masher Girl Talk, then go to http://aviary.com/tools/myna. Myna is a brand new music-based sequencer that allows users to build their own songs. You can import your own tracks or you can start building songs from Myna's huge library of clips. You can also choose the tempo of your song and use reverb and pitch change to give it that Kanye West/T-Pain feel. Myna's editing and looping features are easy to figure out. If you've used Windows Movie Maker, the transition will be very smooth. You can even save your new song as an MP3, so you can share it on the Web or upload it to your music library. Check it out.
Jess DeHaven, Lifestyles editor: If you like scones, sausage rolls and tea, you may want to head down to the 24th Annual British Faire from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this Saturday at the Lenexa (Kan.) Community Center. In addition to all kinds of tasty goodies, vendor also will be selling British goods.
Blake Hannon, entertainment reporter: So, Febreeze is making a lot more than just sprays to spritz on your furniture and carpet to eliminate odors from pets or (heaven forbid) a party that went horribly wrong. They've started a home collection with a few items that I think are pretty cool. They have flameless luminary shades that act just like a candle and not only do they smell great, they might even class up the place as far as design goes. I also tried one of their green tea citrus scented candles and it's already led to a number of compliments.
Erin Wisdom, health/religion reporter: "Wicked" the musical, the untold story of the witches from "The Wizard of Oz", started showing in Kansas City this week. I'm planning to try to see it - and will recommend it even though I haven't yet seen it or read the book it's based upon - because my cousins are crazy about it. They saw it multiple times when it was in their area and put its soundtrack on their iPods, and I'm sure that if they didn't live more than 500 miles away, they'd love to see it yet another time with me.
