We recommend for Nov. 6, 2009

Each week, members of the Lifestyles staff share something we like. Maybe you'll like it, too.

Sylvia Anderson, food/home and garden reporter: If you ever have a change to eat at one of the reservation only seasonal dinners at the J.C. Wyatt House - do it. We went to their special Halloween dinner and it was incredible, including the unique gothic decor, the service and each of the three courses. The price is about half of what you would pay for a comparable meal in Kansas City. And you can bring your own wine and beer, which saves a bundle. Check it out at www.jcwyatt.net.

Tamara Clymer, family reporter: Is it just me or are bottles of hand sanitizers are everywhere? It seems flu season has brought with it jumbo size bottles of palm cleaners, aloe versions and foaming varieties, but I'm here to tell you not all hand sanitizers are created equal. Bath & Body Works has got to have the best smelling hand sanitizer out there. There's nothing worse than having your hands smell like a bottle of rubbing alcohol or something out of a medicine cabinet. Bath & Body Works's products not only don't leave you smelling icky - they leave a nice light scent and help keep the flu bug away to boot. My personal favorites are Sweet Pea, Warm Vanilla Sugar and Sea Island Cotton.

Shea Conner, entertainment reporter: I was sad to hear that Comedy Central pulled the plug on "Reno 911!" this fall, but its replacement is actually pretty funny. "Secret Girlfriend" is a comedy show with a unique concept: You are the star. The entire show is shot in first person and your two hilariously dumb friends, Phil and Sam, get you into all sorts of adventures that often involve hot babes and lots of drinks. Don't get me wrong - it's a very juvenile show, but you'll love it if you enjoyed movies like "American Pie" or "The Hangover."

Jess DeHaven, Lifestyles editor: I can't tell you how much better a night's sleep you get with the right pillow. I needed to get a new one and this time I picked my pillow not based on how soft or firm it was but by following the label on the packaging for the way you sleep (on your back, side, stomach). Huge difference.

Blake Hannon, entertainment reporter: I never thought in a million years I'd be writing these words - especially after seeing the damning fast food documentary "Super Size Me." If you'd like some good tasting, healthy drive-thru food, go to McDonald's. I personally recommend their Premium Southwest Salad with grilled chicken and the Premium Grilled Chicken Classic Sandwich. The first has 30 grams of protein, four grams of saturated fat and barely tops 400 calories with a full pack of dressing. The second one is served on a honey wheat roll (good carbs), has 420 calories, 32 grams of protein and only two grams of saturated fat. Can you tell I'm kind of a health nut? But don't take my word for it. Both items are recommended fast food eats at MuscleAndFitness.com.

Erin Wisdom, health/religion reporter: I thought I'd have throughout the end of last month to get some good photos of fall leaves, something I enjoy doing each year. One of my favorite places for that is Loose Park in Kansas City, which was absolutely beautiful when I went the last weekend of October last year. So I expected the same would be true when I went the last weekend of October this year - only to find that the fall foliage was definitely past its prime and that there were a lot of bare branches. Moral of the story: Don't put off trying to get good photos, especially when you're depending on something as unpredictable as Mother Nature.
